Snow - backlog

Rue de la petite calade
No, there hasn't been a new snowfall but I couldn't resist showing you a few more of the snow shots I took about ten days ago. Street scenes just take a whole new atmosphere when they turn to white, don't they? Which one of these photos is your favourite? My fellow blogger Michel Benoit managed to find old-time postcards of Avignon under the snow and went back to take pictures from the same spots exactly. It's fascinating to see how in a hundred years the buildings and shops have changed, the trees have grown etc - and all in white! See this post of Rocher des Doms and this one of Allées Jean Jaurès. They're fun to see.

Thank you for the kind comment that you left recently on my Daily Photo site. I have been enjoying your photos of Avignon in the snow and am pleased to see you return to a few more snow photos. I have been to Avignon once, in the summer, and would not have thought that you get snow at lower elevations in the south of France.

The snow is beautiful, but I hope that the cold has not damaged the flowering plants.

Remember yesterday's post about the laundromat? Welle here's a note to all keen eyes out there: I spy with my little eye the word Lavomatique again in one of the photos. Can you spot it?

Nathalie,
I could not begin to pick my favorite. These are all wonderful. Thank you for showing us what you had! I think we must not stop at one photo a day when we have such as these. They are so lovely. I have enjoyed each and every one. La neige est trés belle!! ( I hope that is correct)

All of the photos are fantastic. You truly suffer for your art, finding us some very interesting angles. I would say that the photo which seems to have been taken from the top of a building is my favourite, and there in the background is the green Lavomatique sign!

It would have been hard for me to imagine snow in Avignon. Your photographs are marvellous - particularly love the first one, with that wonderful sweep of road, starting with such a narrow street - and of course then the man on the bike. Super.

Faut qu'on aille vérifier !

Bises

My favorite is the top one with the cyclist. All of them make me want to drink hot chocolate.

I enjoyed the old and new post cards you linked to as well.

I'm watching Barack Obama's inauguration at the moment. It's a wonderfully moving time in history.

hello natalie, you're right snow makes everything ordinary look magical, each shot is as cool as the next. Thanks for visiting my blog, and your comment, hope you return. I live in the centre of France in the Auvergne. British by birth, but happier over here at present- are you French?

I've been looking, fascinated, at these. Seems so remote from the hot, sultry Avignon of summer, and my reality at the moment! I do, very often, think of you with those beach shots. "I wonder if Nathalie..." "Nathalie might..." etc. Maybe next time you come over here we can do a trip down the south coast to the cottage.

Oh I completely agree. Sometimes I want to only take pictures in the snow. Its just so beautiful.

Gorgeous photos by the way.

merci.
